With the five mini-briefs out of the way, now is when the process of trying to think of an idea for a bigger process for the module of Creative Design Practice (CDP) begins.
Being completely honest, the one thing I struggle with the most, is the beginning. I never quite know where to get ideas from. It is always a process that I take a long time in, spend hours thinking about to even think about a theme to work with.
During a lecture, we were asked to think about three words.
Nature. Magic. Forrest.
Perhaps, I stuck too close what is familiar and to what I love. And, perhaps I should one day stir away from the theme of my comfort. However, for a project as big as this one, I felt that I needed to do something that I would feel passionate about and would enjoy working on.
I know that I want to do an animation and I know that I want it to have some sort of narrative.
There were several things I am trying to do to get through this process of brainstorming. I have been watching several animation movies (mostly all of Studio Ghibli’s collection that I have an obsession with), I have watched several short story animations on YouTube that I could get into now but have decided to do a dedicated blog post about instead, and I have also been looking at different news sources trying to possibly find something that do with nature that I can think of a story to go with.
I did find one interesting news piece that connects the seven deadly sins with humans destroying the environment that surrounds them. It is actually a topic that I have always been somehow interested in and could potentially explore.
Hopefully I will get through this fast, so I can jump into making creative work for it and leave this head spinning worthy process behind.
