Preparing for the Professional Interview

The professional interview is right around the corner, which means I have to start working on it. The first hurdle on the way is to figure out which works I want to show that would represent me best, and this is a difficult step.
I was not quite sure exactly what I wanted to show, I knew that throughout the years I have been in university I slowly started diverging from design in itself to illustration and animation. There was one work that I was sure I wanted to show, and that was the one-minute long animation with one of Mary Alice’s poem that I had done last year for one of our assignments, since that was technically my first ever animation but also the work that, to date, I am most proud of having done. My concern with it were the time restraints, as we only had a certain amount of time to do our presentation and the animation was one minute long in itself.
The second work that I was sure I wanted to show was the illustrations I had done for a book. This also a work that I was very proud of and felt like it would represent me well as an illustrator.
The third work I decided on a few posters I had done for a project about inhumane animal captivity, since image manipulation is something that I am also interested in doing in the future.
The fourth work was a motion graphic animation of several objects that became obsolete with the appearance of smart phones.
And the fifth, and last work, was the current short story animation in which I had one scene to show what projects I am working in.
I must have practiced and timed myself a good 5 times, making sure to write everything that I wanted to say on my notes, so I could have that ready while doing the interview. Usually I would only write bullet points, but for this I wanted to make sure I would not go off rails with rambling. But, at the same time, I also wanted to guarantee it would not sound like I was completely reading it off a script, so practicing it time and time again was needed so I could memorise it well enough. I made sure to record myself and hear it back to assure myself everything sounded coherent enough but also that I was presenting myself in a professional way.
In the end, I felt prepared enough and was ready to face the interview.
